U.S. President Barack Obama laying wreath at Tomb of Unknown Soldier, Memorial Day
This was the president's chance to salute the U.S. military and also avoid the controversy about having a wreath also delivered to the confederate memorial in the cemetery.
Our position was on scaffolding next to the staircase leading up to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier which gave us a chance to have the Amphitheater and the guests as a backdrop.
Normally this isn't a perspective you can obtain when photographing at the tomb but our White House Press Pool pass gave us access next to the CNN and CBS cameras.
I have some other ideas for interesting locations at future Arlington services.
I'm in the midst of processing the images from an Indian wedding we photographed at the new Gaylord Hotel which is part of the National Harbor convention center next to the Wilson Bridge on the Potomac. It's really difficult to pick just a few photos from this wonderous event. Hina and Alap, were a wonderful couple to work with for the three day affair. I also want to thank by associate Pat Nealy for a wonderful job.
A few more pictures from Ft. Frederick. We also did a lot of night time photography with the Nikon D3 which is phenomenonal in low light situations.
This event is what Williamsburg Virginia should be. There are more artisians displaying their crafts at this market and a great desire to educate people about the characters they've chosen to represent and the crafts they've learned that are true to the time period.

The D3 is a great camera for low light wedding situations.
Colonial Days at Ft. Frederick Maryland is a 4 day event bringing together reenactors representing Pre-revolutionary colonal characters. Think of the French and Indian war period. There were hundreds of tents containing people working to recreate this period with authentic clothing, implements, etc. Wonderful day for a family to enjoy Ft. Frederick state park.

The Knot Best of Weddings 2008/2009 Pick
Yesterday, we received an award plaque from The Knot informing us we were voted one of the best photography studios in the DC area. We picked up their magazine “The Knot Best of Weddings 2009” and found that we received their highest rating from our brides and were one of only seven photographers in the DC area to achieve that rating. Not to shabby, and thanks to the Edge brides. Love you ladies!
Here is The Knot’s verbiage to be polically correct.
"We are proud to announce that The Edge Photography Studio has been rated by local brides and voted The Knot Best of Weddings 2008/2009 Pick. Please pick up a copy of The Knot Best of Weddings 2009 magazine and check out our listing."
A few images from Arlington National Cemetery Sunrise service including pre-dawn, moon over Arlington and dove release at end of service.
Sunrise Easter Service at Arlington National Cemetery
We had the pleasure of photographing the Easter sunrise service last Sunday at Arlington National Cemetery.
It was a bit of a challenge to get up at 3AM after finishing a three day Indian wedding and going to bed at 12:30AM. Knowing I had committed to David Kay, I had the motiviation to make it work.
More to follow on the great wedding as well including images from Foxchase in Manassas and the Gaylord Hotel at the National Harbor complex.
Here is the start of some images.
